January: Photo of the month
Like I said, I made it through January! I just had a thought, why not do a photo of the month thing? I'll be doing the following: Photo of the month (dependent on coolness, effect turnout and composition), LOL factor (the one I could laff at the most), and Bleh photo (the shittiest possible one).

You know what I love about it? Other than the LOL factor, I thought it looked absolutely fantastic with the close up feel. Details and everything. (Runner up is the Day 24: Quest for Immortality mummified crocodile. It was a tough call.)

Like I said in that entry, I didn't put my whole heart into taking this photo. While I did have a couple of runner ups (namely Day 1 and Day 2), I've decided to base it more on whether I actually took the effort into taking photos properly this time round.

Day 31: Indoor Zen
Wow, it's already the end of the month! I'm so happy that I've managed to complete 1/12 of Project 365. Going to comment a bit more, but first, today's photo!
I only saw a "no photo" sign after I took this, but I would still have taken it anyway! I wouldn't mind having an indoor fish pond if I had a gorgeously huge house. I think my grandpa would be happy that I took an interest in owning koi...

Day 29: Winnie the Soothe
That's probably the lamest title I can come up with, given the current status of my mind. But hey, that's what I'm feeling!
Winnie the Pooh and cushions! I was at a friend's flat for cell group, and despite it being my 2nd attendance, I do admit that I feel right at home and cozy. Hugging that ice cream plush evoked a lot of memories of my extended family in Shanghai.

Day 28: New Lappy
Technically, it's not mine but my flatmate's because her lappy crashed badly and seems beyond repair for some reason.
Seriously, the "protective cover" that's on my flatmate's new lappy makes the whole screen darker overall rather than simply blacken out when standing on the side (to protect yourself from information stealers). You can see how much stress we're under from the amount of mess on the table.

Day 27: When there's daylight, there's to hoping
Normally, I do my 365 just maybe an hour or two before the day ends. And this photo was actually a "just-in-case" thing that I took this morning. Given the fact that I've never uploaded a morning photo, this will be my first.
This is not the sort of photo I actually put my whole heart in taking. But here's a thought: daybreak is always really beautiful at the appropriate moment. This has to be it. And to think that my day would have ended up being really grubby, when in fact, was the opposite. =)

Day 26: Baby all I want is some Bling Bling Bling
I really ought to get myself a new camera lens strictly for huge close ups. It was such a bitch to take a photo of this, given I was standing with one knee bent and the hard drive resting delicately on my thigh, and dropped the crystals into a sofa in the end. ARGH. The lengths you would go for a good (which is not so good in this case) photo...ANYWAY...
This is from a collection of Swarovski (you heard me) hot fix crystals that I bought recently. Compared to the stuff I bought in Shanghai, this stuff is really shiny. And I've made this my point: if I don't actually get in, I'll make that bloody dress for myself!

Met up with Esme at the Esplanade today. Lovely hawker's stuff as always!
Dessert! It's shaved ice with fruity stuff (in my case, mango and grass jelly and lychee). This was taken at Glutton's Bay when having dinner with Esme (she had raspberry).

Day 24: Quest for Immortality
Today has been quite interesting as I stopped by Singapore's National Museum to check out their special Egyptian exhibition Quest for Immortality. Obviously, the best part is that I get in for free with a Student card, since the place is directly next to the church I normally go to on Sundays it was a "why not?" moment. Will be uploading the rest of the photos later as I need to reorganize my stuff, but for now, enjoy this cool photo I took!
Can you guess what this is? It's a mummified crocodile! It was a real bitch to take this photo because of all that dim lighting and crowd could easily blur my shot. But I managed! Unfortunately, I didn't see the sistra at the museum (thanks again Raya for letting me read her thesis on it before hand). It would have been really cool though.

Day 22: Dance for the Debut
I've come to a blank today, so I'll take my time to introduce something I've been listening to lately.
This CD is actually a friend's debut album named Dance. It's such a wonderful album full of songs of praise and truths. Beautifully sung and the musical arrangements are fantastic. Visit Jean's MySpace website today! My favourite is song is Taxi. (I should get her autograph while I'm at it.)

Day 21: YOU EGG
Today, when we tried to make brunch, we got this.
Frozen eggs! We only put them into the fridge for about a week and left them at the bottom, but somehow they managed to turn into iced raw egg. They looked really awesome! (But we still threw them out.)

It's been a really long (and not so pleasant) day today, so I'll only say the only thing that's actually making me smile:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AOI-SAMA! Ideally, I'd like to post a recent magazine image of him, but I think this is more appropriate. This graphic was supposed to be for the JRockRevolution Forum's Graphics Battle, but as I was supposed to be in Round 3 instead of Round 2, I had to ditch this for the Uruha image. <3 the GazettE's left guitarist!

Day 19: Hello Kitty in SQ
I went to the Raffles Hotel again to visit the museum (while at the same time researching on more details on the Singapore Sling). And I came by Hello Kitty!
Normally, I don't take photos of Hello Kitty, but I simply had to take a photo of this plush toy at the Raffles Hotel Museum, dressed up in SQ (Singapore Airlines) uniform. Oh...did I mention that I sent an MMS of this photo to Squishy? XD

Day 18: Singapore Sling
I went to Raffles Hotel (which is near the school) and took loads of photos there. As this is Project 365, I'll only post one photo here, but if you're interested in seeing the rest, here's the album link.
The famous Singapore Sling. The cocktail originated from Raffles Hotel (Long Bar, to be specific). I thought it was a bit of a rip off (I paid nearly SGD30 for it, and that includes tax and service charge!), but for the sake of some awesome photos, it was worth it.

Day 17: Intrawebz and lazy meal
After all this waiting and from the amount of work I need to do online, I cannot stand it anymore. So I went to SingTel and applied for the mobile internet that I can use straight away. Squee! But of course, when you finally have stable internet (though slightly slower), you tend to not want to move. So we ordered delivery from McDonald's.
While I ordered my usual favourite (the fish burger), I saw that they had some interesting stuff. Like replacing the usual fries with curly fries (which taste like overcooked onion rings from Burger King *shudder*). What I thought interesting was the Prosperity burger that my flatmate ordered. (It's a Chinese New Year promotion. And it smells and probably tastes like Chinese style sizzling beef on a hot plate "tie ban xiao".) They also have garlic with chili sauce and curry sauce, which I've never seen in Hong Kong. The McFlurry is vanilla ice cream with Milo powder and Milo chocolate biscuits. Yum... Oh, and that's my SingTel USB for me to go online. YAY!

Singapore Sling in a bottle! I found this in a convenience store, and it just comes to show how the Singapore Sling has an impact on...Singapore. Singaporean culture ta! I haven't drank this bottle yet though.

Day 15: Gel candles
This place I visited today is a real potential for awesome photos, but since I didn't bring my SLR, I decided not to be too ambitious.
I was over at a friend's place today, and before I left, I saw this gel candle that has 3 wicks and lots of sea shells inside. It looks so cool and I had a wave of nostalgia back from my Mauritian childhood. It was a great evening as I really needed some emotional understanding at this point.

Day 14: Laksa
Here's a foodie.
The Laksa! This is not the best laksa in Singapore, but generally, the ones made locally taste way better than abroad. I've eaten countless not-so-tasty laksas in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and none of them can even beat the taste here. (For those of you who are unfamiliar: it's a spicy noodle soup that's a cross between Chinese and Malay that normally contains coconut milk and prawns. It's probably the most famous Singaporean dish.)

Day 13: Purple Rushes
Today hasn’t been exciting. But I decided to make use of the tripod today to practice setting up the contraption. Seriously, it would be embarrassing if I keep forgetting how to do so when in a rush.
I’ve been meaning to take this photo for a while, but never actually got a chance to until today (since I wanted to show off my still tidy flat). It’s some shredded paper that we found in a pretty red box that the previous tenant left behind. And since purple is one of my favourite colours…why not photograph this “chaotic harmony”?

Day 12: The Storage Cupboard
Tour of the flat is (sort of) finished, but I still have something to show you…my cupboard!

(Front L-R): Can of Italian tomatoes, Nissin cup noodles (chili crab flavour and seafood curry flavour, you can’t get any more Singaporean! – I ate the laksa one just before), 1/2 bottle of Merlot (my cupboard is never without at least a bottle of wine), egg noodles, mint sweets and vegetable stock cubes.

Day 10: Shopping Spree
Singaporean Sephora is totally a cosmetics heaven. I could pretty much pick up any make up brand I want, but the only thing that gets to me is the additional 7% sales tax on everything I buy. Hence, HATE. But I’ve also made a fantastic discovery: Kinokuniya bookstore at Takashimaya! A place for me to grab my Shoxx, Neo Genesis, Arena 37, Vogue Nippon, and loads more Japanese magazines here!
(Back L-R): Sephrora’s make up remover, OPI nail polish “Give me moor!”, Eyecon by Benefit, cream for breast feeding mothers (not for me, for some friends =P), no water needed dry shampoo spray (which doesn’t seem to work as well as hoped), Burt’s Bees’ Garden Tomato toner (fantastic for removing stuff you couldn’t clean before from your face), an empty spritzer to put my toner in for spritzing on the road.
(Readables): Fool’s Mate Nov 2009 issue, Shoxx Nov 2009 issue (I like Nightmare), a copy of Fun Singapore for times I may need to visit places like Jurong Bird Park and Singapore Zoo.

Day 8: Bedroom
Out of respect, I wouldn’t take photos of my flatmate’s bedroom (unless if there was something like mould suddenly popping out somewhere her wardrobe), but I’ll show you mine.
You know, for once my bedroom actually looks orderly. Compared to the state I normally love in. =P In the corner are the suitcases that have pretty much been around the world with me since university days. On the bed is my lappy. And the teddy bear that’s staring at you curiously is Squish Sir. I might take a photo of him some time as part of Project 365.

Day 7: Dining Area
You saw the TV area, so here’s the dining area!
Straight ahead is the TV area, just to the left is the kitchen, the opening you can see on the left of the screen is the entrance to the master bedroom (a.k.a my room). I’m standing right in front of my flatmate’s room (right at the entrance and she made fun of me standing on a chair as I took the photo). And to the right after the picture (that’s cut off in the screen that you cannot see) is the third bedroom. We’re currently using it to air our laundry though.

Day 6: WE’VE MOVED IN! TV AREA
Yay! First day of moving in! And no internet! (Boooooo.) But, I promise you, I’ll be putting up a list of back entries as soon as I have access to the internet to upload these babies. Anyhow, a tour of my flat is in order!
Obviously, the first area after entering the flat. The big wooden door is the entrance, and I bet the pink and red cushions are left over from the previous tenant. The orchids hanging on the shoe cupboard are fakes. They make the room look more lively though!

Day 5: All my pocket money gets blown away
Man, it's so easy to spend money. Especially when renting an apartment! So for today's entry, I'll be posting...
The Singapore Dollar! We ran out of $5 notes, so we only have these (the one in reddish colour is $10). So expensive...
NOTE: Due to the fact that I will be moving and be without internet for a while, I wouldn't be able to update during this time. But I will definitely be taking photos everyday (especially my new apartment!) and do a mass upload as soon as I can have a decent connection. This one at the hostel...completely sucks.

Day 4: New slippers
While the actual event didn't happen today but yesterday, I've decided to make it a point to tell this story of my new slippers.
I wouldn't have bought Billabong slippers had I not accidentally walked out of the hostel (at the same time locking myself out as I gave the key to my classmate) with the hostel slippers that are not supposed to leave the indoors. It cost me SG$30, but they're kind of comfy.

Day 2: The internet sucks
The internet absolutely sucks here. To the point where I almost couldn't upload something for a dA contest. Gah. Again, today hasn't been a good mood for photo taking, so I took a photo that explains some of the stuff I've been doing.
(Back left to right) The plastic box is a box of already cut fruits that I bought from the hospital food court on the way home. The green apples and green melon taste so-so, and the only thing that's worth eating in it are the watermelons. (I suspect that this same fruit box is the culprit for giving me a stomach upset just 30 minutes ago.) The bottle of Yakult that's apple flavoured - it tastes a little strange so I actually prefer the original Yakult flavour (STOP CHANGING THE ORIGINAL STUFF). Next is some take away noodles from the same food court, though I prefer the stuff from other food courts. The white bottle that says "shine" is liquid yoghurt drink. Again, it's not as nice as the other brand I bought days ago.
(At the bottom) The white leaflet is a Visitor's Guide from the Peranakan Museum I visited on 31st December. (Peranakans are a whole subcultural group where Chinese, Malays and Indians intermarry in Singapore.) The one with the number 130 is actually a bus leaflet for the number 130, which I took on the way home today (Singapore's bus system is near excellent - too bad they don't have something that tells me what stop it is on the bus screen like they do in Hong Kong). The EZ-Link card is a transport card which has just over SG$3 on it from my extensive public transport taking. And finally, some Oral Fixation caffeinated mints that I brought with me. I really should order some more, the box looks so cool!

Squee! Project 365 is officially launched! Day 1 hasn't officially ended yet, but given my current state, this is probably the best I can achieve for today.
The canned drink is Naughty G, which is a caffeinated drink that contains "Horny Goat Weed" (AHAHAHAHAHA), "Ginkgo Giloba" (huh?), "'Miracle Molecule' L-ARGININE" (miracle??), "Korean Ginseng" and "Tribulus Terrestris". It's a "Stamina and Performance Supplement Drink for him & her" that enables you to "work hard, play harder". I haven't tasted it yet but it contains 80mg of caffeine if you must know. The green bottled drink is Kickapoo Joy Drink, and it tastes a bit like diluted cream soda. And the back is the mosque that's near the hostel I'm staying at.
