Day 128: Russian Rhapsody
A university friend I haven't seen in a while treated me to a symphony orchestra (as one of her job perks). I can't remember the last time I've actually been to a proper concert just to listen to classical music, and when you haven't sat in a session in a while, you can't help but enjoy it all the more because of such a rare opportunity to listen to good music. The best part of the show? They were playing Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, an absolutely beautiful piano concerto. Maksim (one of my favourite pianists) has a more techno edge to his version, which can be found here in YouTube if interested in listening to the melody. I really do suggest listening to the 10 minute version (which is way shorter than the one I sat through), the mood changes throughout and it really is one of those that a person should at least listen to once.
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra performing the Russian Rhapsody at the Esplanade. It was a fantastic night (thanks again dear!) - but kind of wished that I took another photo - I hate that guy's head ruining my shot!
