Day 191: Rediscovering Trifle
There was a get together with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Man, I was so stuffed with Indonesian food I didn't even have appetite for dinner.
The food that really stood out for me was a friend's trifle. Now I don't have a good relationship with trifle - it came down to a really bad first experience. I remember I was 11 in secondary school at home economics class. And we made trifle once. Oh. My. Word. It tasted so revoltingly horrendous with the concoction of all those raw ingredients I didn't dare touch another trifle in my life and would avoid it like it was a landmine for my taste buds and stomach. At least until today when the person who made it nudged me to dig in deeper "Because it's my trifle!" when she saw me only scooping for 1 strawberry. She was right...it was really delicious!
Maybe I might learn to accept trifle again...?
A friend's trifle at a lunch gathering. I didn't expect to love it, given I've had a really bad memory of my first encounter with it.
