July: Photo of the Month
July, July! So which photos made it?
Photo of the Month
Day 198: Jivara by Bakerzin
It's mouthwatering! How can I resist whenever I see this gorgeous photo of a chocolate treat by one of the best local dessert shops?
LOL Factor
Day 183: Footie Frenzy
Not exactly a complete LOL photo, but when I think of how many people are so obsessed with watching football during the World Cup, I struggle not to laugh at this (temporary) obsession that took over the majority of the population.
Blah Photo
Day 189: Alone in the Dark
Just because there really wasn't anything worth taking.
July's been an enjoyable month. At least I got to see some things and had more of a life than usual.

Day 212: Carlton Decor
My dad came to visit me today, so a photo related to the event's in order.
That's the ceiling decoration at the Carlton Hotel where my dad was staying at. I love the light baubles and the shadows it makes on the ceiling.

Day 211: Blog Revamp
Oh boy, I finally revamped my JRock blog! Mantified was in serious need of design changes, which I had been meaning to do and put off the project until today because I didn't have time.
Why?
3 reasons:
1. Every time I embed a video, whenever the smallest size I can choose to embed always spills over the side bar. It's because the blog area width is too tiny in the original design.
2. You cannot even comment on my blog. Same with this blog, the comment section just doesn't work (hence my shout box in the 365 blog, but still!). I needed something that people can put their comments in.
3. Because I really want to give it more the GazettE lurrrrrve!!!
Okay, it's been nuts, but hey, it's done and I've got myself a spanking seksi looking blog space I can call my own.
I redesigned my Mantified blog layout. I spent over 12 hours in one shot preening, screaming, prettifying and smackifying the damned template's HTML. So yes, this is what it looks like in Google Chrome.

Day 210: Tap
One of those days...*sigh* I actually missed this day when I realized that the dates don't line up as they're supposed to. And it's this one!
A hot water tap under the sushi conveyor belt.

Day 209: Awful Buns
As much as I love pork buns, there has to be a limit on how awful it can taste!
Pork buns in pineapple bun pastry. It tasted salty and sweet at the same time. Definitely not ordering this again because it's either a char siu bao (pork dim sum bun) pretending to be a bor lor bao (classic pineapple bun that's popular in Hong Kong bakery shops), or vice versa.

Day 208: Sugar Prunes
Some childhood memories trigger at the sight of certain things. In this case today, it's sugar prunes.
Sugar prunes I bought from the supermarket today. I've always loved these as a child and haven't eaten them for over 10 years by now (wow, I could actually say 10 years!) These were so sweet and juicy I practically shoved all of them in my mouth today - one at a time though.

I've always wondered what they were constructing in the area behind my flat. Now we can at least see what the site looks like!
The construction site downstairs from my apartment. At least we know what it looks like now!

Day 206: Esplanade Xchange
Nothing particularly exciting today.
The Esplanade Xchange - the station connects from Raffles City to Suntec City. Not particularly exciting, but the newness and clean spacious look does has its appeal.

Day 205: Night Safari
Because I've been itching to take my SLR for a walk, a trip to the Night Safari was in order! Luckily, I had my tripod with me, or else I probably wouldn't even have any nice photos on hand.
The sleeping leopard at the Night Safari. Given the amount of children, tourists, more children jumping up and down and screaming, and idiots using flash photography, it was really difficult to get nice shots. Not to mention the animals sometimes move about too much. And it's either this photo, or a photo of a bat don't have blurs! Bah...I hate summer crowds...

Day 204:B³
A burger entry today! I normally don't comment on burgers unless if they really catch my taste buds. The one I had at Burger Bench and Bar (hence B³ ) is worth a mention.
I had a burger meal after watching Despicable Me in 3D this afternoon. The mushroom beef burger was really juicy at Burger Bench and Bar (B³ ). And you can order Fuji Apple fizzy drink instead of the usual Sprite or Coke!

Day 203: When in Doubt, Caran D'Ache is the Answer
More art supplies on show.
I love good quality art supplies. For colour pencils, I only trust the Caran D'Ache brand. Nothing else. Even though it's about 200 times more expensive than the normal ones you can get simply because the pencil cores give consistent colours, strength and brilliance. You pay for quality you know.

Day 202: Press Press Arcade
I hit the arcades today. Haven't played much in a while, and it's my ideal way to relieve some stress while immersing myself into play. I've been a fan of playing Taiko Master for years, but what really bummed me out was the fact that a lot of pop songs from China were used. So I ended up being forced to play some of the old familiars like Neon Genesis Evangelion opening theme. I was happy that the machine I played actually had the original One Piece opening theme We Are, which is a fantastic song. I wished they did have some more rock like Death Note's opening theme the WORLD.
Though, I did get a lot of LULZ when I played the machine in the photo. It had Scatman (which, for once, I actually recognized), and you know what else? Hot Limit by T.M.Revolution! XD It's probably my first time laughing this hard by myself in public while playing an arcade game. LOL.
This is one of the more modern arcade games (that doesn't involve Street Fighter or DDR). It's a musical game where you press the squares as they appear. Oh. Man. I can't believe I actually played Scatman and Hot Limit on this machine while I laughed like a squirrel on crack! XD AHAHAHA...got to love TMR...

Day 201: Calendar's on the Wall (July)
Tomorrow is the GazettE's latest single release [SHIVER], as well as the first airing of the anime Kuroshitsuji II (it's their first anime opening track!). Totally excited, not to mention they all look so hawt. :D
July features Ruki of the GazettE. I love this outfit from the Hyena single.

Day 200: Afghani Money
Wow, Day 200 already! Just another 165 days more to go!
Ever seen Afghani money? Most people probably haven't so here's a photo of a 500 Afghani note (equivalent to around USD11). Yes, I actually own this note! It's given to me by one of my friends who's currently working in Afghanistan (coRtALoS) who paid me a visit in Hong Kong this year. Like: "Here, you want it?" "Of course I do, it's money!" LOL. I have Afghani money!

Day 199: Vampire Posters
Iluma shopping centre sure has some really interesting things to look at. Sort of like a trendy, modern arty thing going on.
The captions say "I bi{te} you welcome." and "I never drink any wine." It's a display of posters for vampire movies. Methinks they're quite nicely done.

Day 198: Jivara by Bakerzin
Looking for high tea? Other than Four Seasons Hotel, Bakerzin's desserts are totally fabulous (as witnessed when I had that delicious souffle on Day 177).
I'm giving more rave points to Bakerzin. Seriously, this Jivara cake is so deliciously made, not to mention its appearance is really mouth watering. And I can't believe this photo turned out this nicely with my phone camera!

Day 197: ZY Magazine and Chocolates
Lazy day at home. And what better than to take a photo of my purchases?!
A copy of ZY magazine. the GazettE is about to release their latest single [SHIVER], and this is their latest look. SQUEE! Came with a poster and a postcard. At the same time, I was eating peach/apricot infused chocolates bought at Jones bakery. Droolfest!

Day 196: Overlocker
Something people not in the industry have probably never ever seen before.
This is called an overlock machine. Most people who aren't in the industry wouldn't know what it is (let alone what it's for), but to give you an idea, take a look at the inside of that t-shirt/jeans/shirt/whatever you're wearing. You see this bunch of machine stitched threads that wrap themselves around the seam to create that cleaner finish? That's overlock. Expensive garments don't normally use overlocks as it's a speed thing for mass production. And yes, this is taken at my place.

Day 195: It has bewbz!
I went to the art supply stores today, and saw that this mannequin actually has boobs! Normally, for some reason, wooden mannequins for the purpose of art either have no boobs or just have them at weird places (as seen in on my doll in the Day 161 entry).
The mannequin in the Takashimaya Art Friend actually has boobs! I would greatly appreciate it if those mannequin manufacturers would actually create more believable wooden bodies.

Day 194: Taxi Surcharges
It's about time I made an entry about those stupid surcharges I'm forced to pay at certain times of the day!
You probably cannot see this unless if it were enlarged (unless if you use Picasa to view this). Ugh...the additional costs I have to pay at certain times of the day just for riding a taxi. Money rippers!

Day 193: Penned out Squish Sir
Stayed at home for the day.
A penned out Squish Sir on my notes. I've never drawn fuzziness like this before, so it was more of an experiment. And I was trying to copy Shrek's Puss' giant kitty eyes. Fail.

Day 192: Ripples in the Sky
Today's weather was really beautiful, despite the heat.
This is the inside of one of the subway stations here. There's water on the glass ceiling, and with the sun shine with slight breeze, the ripples' shadows giving a softer feeling gives the tamer light makes the station feel more serene in a bright kind of way.

Day 191: Rediscovering Trifle
There was a get together with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Man, I was so stuffed with Indonesian food I didn't even have appetite for dinner.
The food that really stood out for me was a friend's trifle. Now I don't have a good relationship with trifle - it came down to a really bad first experience. I remember I was 11 in secondary school at home economics class. And we made trifle once. Oh. My. Word. It tasted so revoltingly horrendous with the concoction of all those raw ingredients I didn't dare touch another trifle in my life and would avoid it like it was a landmine for my taste buds and stomach. At least until today when the person who made it nudged me to dig in deeper "Because it's my trifle!" when she saw me only scooping for 1 strawberry. She was right...it was really delicious!
Maybe I might learn to accept trifle again...?
A friend's trifle at a lunch gathering. I didn't expect to love it, given I've had a really bad memory of my first encounter with it.

Day 190: Cinema Date
Now that my schedule is too empty (as compared to last term), need to find things to do to fill my time. So I went to the cinema (for the first time here) to watch Toy Story 3. Loved the film - I cried in the end! D:
Lemon and Hibiscus drink (it tasted a little like...a flowery version of lemongrass drink) and a fruit pack from Starbucks. And my movie ticket to Toy Story 3.

Day 184: 3D Cinema
We went to watch Shrek Forever After in 3D. I'm starting to think 3D films are becoming the norm in cinemas. But it's really annoying when I have to wear 2 pairs of glasses at the same time - my flat nose doesn't hold glasses well. =P
These 3D glasses are for us to keep! They're doing a promotion at this cinema: if you bring your own 3D glasses for the next 3D film, you get a $10 voucher and a free popcorn. Not bad!

Day 183: Footie Frenzy
The World Cup certainly has got the majority of the population frenzied. Though I can bet my 2 cents that it's because they're in for the betting rather than for actual love for the sport.
There's probably over 800 people watching this match at the place where I took this photo. Even taxi drivers would rather watch the football than do business! (That's according to Squishy who tried to grab a cab home on his end at around the same time while I took the shuttle bus to my flat.)
